The Power of Life $2,000 Scholarship
Your High School must host two blood drives. The scholarship is available to any student regardless of whether he or she donates blood.
The student must submit a typed, single spaced essay of up to 500 words that offers ideas on how to motivate others to donate blood, ways to contribute when not an eligible donor or how to keep high school donors as active donors after graduation.
The student must plan to attend an institution of higher learning in the year following award of the scholarship.

Texas Student Housing Scholarship Program
The Texas Student Housing Authority offers a $2,500 Scholarship per year for a maximum value of $10,000. TSH owns facilities in Austin, College Station, and Denton.

Texas Engineering Foundation
1n 2008, the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the Texas Engineering Foundation will award approximately $100,000 in scholarships to high school seniors who plan to study engineering at an ABET-accredited university.

East Texas State Fair
East Texas State Fair is proud to announce the annual scholarship program. If you are planning to attend Tyler Junior College you should apply for this scholarship. Information may be obtained at www.etstatefair.com.
East Texas Cattle-Ettes offer a $1000 scholarship for those attending TJC as well. Two other organizations associated with East Texas State Fair offer scholarships: East Texas Farm and Ranch and East Texas Pineywoods Cattlewomen information may be obtained from the same website.
Texas Department of Transportation
This scholarship is for students who are planning to persue a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, computer science, and management information or computer information systems.
To qualify a student must be a Texas resident, considered economically disadvantaged and attend a four-year public college or university as a full-time student. For rules, requirements and application you may access the website at www.txdot.gov/careers.

Frontier Fiesta Scholarships
Every year, the Frontier Fiesta Association gives ten scholarships to deserving incoming freshman and current UH students. These scholarships not only reward academic achievement, but also recognize outstanding efforts in community service. Applicants are chosen through a committee of University Faculty and Staff. Over the last fifteen years Frontier Fiesta has awarded over $70,000 in scholarships. In 2006 alone, Frontier Fiesta granted $10,000 to UH students!

United States Service Academies
Students interested in a nomination to a United States Military Academy must begin their applications in the spring of the year before admission. The class entering the academies in the summer of 2009, the application and supporting documents must be returned to the Congressional office, no later that November 1, of this year to be considered for a nomination.
The Congressional nomination application is separate form the materials each candidate must provide to the academies. Applicants must contact each academy directly to open an admissions file. Students are encouraged to apply to all five academies to maximize their chances for a Service Academy appointment.

Goss-Michael Foundation Scholarship
The Goss-Michael Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building an art collection that reflects the new and emerging creative methods of world-renowned British contemporary artists and also serves as an educational resource for promoting, motivating and inspiring young artists. George Michael and partner Kenny Goss, established the Foundation to share their personal collection with the public and increase the appreciation of contemporary art, specifically in the Dallas area.



The Goss-Michael Foundation Texas State Scholarship is merit-based in the amount of $5,000, to be applied toward tuition at the student’s chosen college or university upon acceptance. In addition to the funding, the recipient will have one piece of art framed and displayed in the director’s office at The Goss-Michael Foundation and will be featured on the Foundation website and monthly newsletter. To be eligible, students must pursue a degree in visual arts upon graduation.

The Texas State Scholarship

The Goss-Michael Foundation is extending a scholarship opportunity to all Texas high school graduating seniors who would like to pursue a college education in visual arts. This is a merit based scholarship in the amount of $5,000 that will be given directly to the student’s chosen college or university upon acceptance.
Selection is based on artistic achievement, scholastic achievement, school and community participation, and leadership. All applicants will submit completed scholarship application form, high school transcript, artist’s statement, essay and a CD of10 original works. Please note that only complete applications will be considered. Recipients will be chosen by a panel of judges comprised of distinguished art professionals.
As well as receiving a scholarship, the recipient will have one piece of art framed and displayed at The Goss-Michael Foundation and will be featured on the Foundation website and monthly newsletter. The scholarship recipient will be announced in May. Applications will be accepted at The Goss-Michael Foundation no later than 6:00pm on March 31, 2009.

Carr P. Collins Scholars Program
To be considered for the program, applicants must: meet all University requirements for unconditional admission; have a minimum 1250 (combined critical reading and math) on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or a minimum 28 on the American College Test (ACT); have completed a balanced college preparatory program including history, science and a foreign language; be in the top quarter of their graduating class; and be a resident of the state of Texas.


If you meet the minimum requirements stated above, please print or type your responses on the application. In addition, you will need to request a specific nomination for the Carr P. Collins Scholars Program from a teacher or your principal including a brief explanation of why you deserve the scholarship. You also will need to prepare a personal essay in your own handwriting. Your essay should be one to two pages in length and should demonstrate your personal and professional qualifications, concept of leadership and philosophy of service. To be considered for the Carr P. Collins Scholars Program, the completed application must be postmarked by January 31.


Collins Scholars are awarded $4,350 each year, renewable for four years. Selection for the Collins scholarship is highly competive. A limited number of awards are made. Collins Scholars must maintain a 3.0 grade point average, satisfactory progress toward a degree, and continued dedication to leadership and service.


Recipients will participate in a program of civic or community service approved by Baylor University for one semester during each year they are a designated Collins Scholar. They will attend special seminars designed for the program, as well as an annual dinner held in their honor. Collins Scholars will maintain a relationship with Baylor and Carr P. Collins Scholars Program to mentor future scholarship recipients and illustrate the program's positive results.

Tipton Ford Inc.
Tipton Ford Inc. has partnered with Built Ford Tough Trucks and the National FFA Foundation to provide a total of 3 scholarships at $1,000 each. All FFA seniors please go to Tipton Ford with the signature page from the scholarship application.

Ford Trucks will award a two-year lease on a 2009 F - 250 Super Duty Truck to the FFA Chapter with the highest-scoring applications. To qualify the chapter must:
